ANTHROFUTURE researchers Manuela Ciotti, Furqan Faridi, and Katerine Niedinger participated in the annual Asia conference of the Association for Asian Studies (AAS), held for the first time in Pakistan at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). As part of the panel “Future artists, artworks for the future,” Manuela and Katerine presented their papers in person, while Furqan joined online.
The LUMS campus and its architecture made a memorable setting for the conference. Charmingly, participants also encountered a community of cats freely roaming around the university grounds.
Beyond the conference, Manuela explored one of her prospective field sites by visiting Beaconhouse National University (BNU). There, she met Rashid Rana, Dean of BNU’s Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts & Design (MDSVAD), who generously gave her a tour of the campus.
